Contextual Information for Universities
Hinchingbrooke School is a larger than average 11-18 secondary school (NOR 1899) and part of the ACES Multi-Academy Trust. There are currently 403 students in the Sixth form who come predominantly from the school population, although around 25% are drawn from other institutions. The school's mainstream catchment area is Huntingdon and the surrounding villages to the South and West of the town. The Sixth Form offers over 35 level 3 subjects; 25 A levels and 6 Applied A Levels/BTECS. We also offer a number of one year courses, including the EPQ, Core Maths and ASs in MFL.
During the Pandemic, Sixth Form students were not affected by any significant outbreaks of COVID-19 in the first term and as such, teaching and learning was not impacted on the whole. In term two, as in all schools, teaching moved online and pastoral and welfare support was rigorous throughout this time. In the summer term, students sat end of year exams which, coupled with class assessments and professional judgement, inform our predicted grades. Students who sat BTECs sat exams in January and TAGs later in the year. In Criminology, TAG assessments were carried out and will be graded in October 2021.
