Hinchingbrooke Music Festival March 2024

IF music be the food of love then this year’s Hinchingbrooke Music Festival 2024 had it in spades!

Performances had everything from solo singers to group ensembles and performances on the cello, piano, guitars, violin, drums, clarinet, and saxophone.

All the students were amazing and the adjudicators had a tough task narrowing it down – with parents commenting on how professional all of the students’ performances were.

Students competed for a place in the final over three days – culminating with the finals in the PAC on Wednesday night, which were open to parents, staff and the public.

First place went to Tia Lewis, in Year 13, who sang her audition piece for Drama School, Breathe from the film In The Heights.

Second place went to Jay Wilkin, in Year 12, for his solo performance of Razzle Dazzle, with third place going to Finley Park, Year 7, who sang Where is Love?

Highly commended went to: Jodie Flynn, Year 10, for her piano performance of Gymnopedie No.1; Alissa Pegram, Year 10, for her performance of Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams; Matthew Goldthorpe, Year 8, who performance Cantina Band on the clarinet; Thomas Bennett, Year 7, who performed The Genius on drums; Nathan Paelmagno from Year 12 for his Mario Medley on the piano and Keir Inglis, from Year 12, for his performance of Clair de Lune on the piano.

The Ensemble Award went to two groups: Tom, Will and Charlotte from Years 7 & 8 for their performance on drums, guitar and bass of Crazy Train/Paranoid and Iron Man, with the final Ensemble award going to Jay, Calum, Blake, Eleanor and Libby from year 12 on vocals/guitar, piano, saxophone, bass and drums for their performance of Van Morrison’s Moondance.

If you know any of the students who performed in the music festival, as well as the winners, please congratulate them as they have made us incredibly proud.
