We now have 9 weeks before year 11 students leave Key Stage 4 and move on to the next part of their hopefully exciting lives. I thought that it would be useful to share some information via a letter and this website rather than student hearsay which can be a little spasmodic and unreliable.

We now have 9 weeks before year 11 students leave Key Stage 4 and move on to the next part of their hopefully exciting lives. I thought that it would be useful to share some information via a letter rather than student hearsay which can be a little spasmodic and unreliable.
The summer season for written exam papers starts on Monday May 14th and details of these can now be found on our new website. Please be aware that no holiday should be taken until July. Students will get their detailed individual timetables towards the end of April and should copy and keep this information somewhere very safe please. All students must sit their exams in full school uniform, be properly equipped and adhere strictly to the code of conduct which they all received a while ago. Please ensure that you let us know as soon as possible if your child is going to be absent for any formal exams by ringing school on extension 5825 and talking to Mrs McDonald.
The practical elements of various courses are now well under way and we wish all our students the best of luck in all aspects of their exam courses. Implementing a home revision programme soon would be hugely beneficial for all.
GCSE Results Day
GCSE results day is Thursday 23rd August and results can be collected from middle school between 9am -12 noon. Students themselves must collect their results, but if this is not possible they must give written/signed permission to a nominated adult to do so. You may also provide a stamped addressed envelope and a letter requesting that results are sent home if you will be away. If either of these options are to be utilised, a letter must be sent to the Exams Office before the end of the summer term.
Post 16 Plans
This process should now nearly be complete and most students will have received conditional offers for
their selected destinations. We do have some concerns that some have not put in place back up plans even when this has been suggested to them. Please find time to discuss possible outcomes if their August results do not match or exceed their offer or their expectations.
Any changes to those subjects selected at Hinchingbrooke must be discussed as soon as possible with the 6th form team.
This is possibly the most important date on our year 11 calendar and will take place from 7pm – 10pm on Friday 22nd June. Currently all our year 11 students have been invited. It has been explained today that any student who is caught truanting, or spends time in isolation or excluded will not be invited or allowed to purchase a ticket. Students who misbehave in any exams will also have their invitation withdrawn.
Tickets will cost £10 and we are grateful to Mrs Woolhouse and her prefect team for preparing for what will be a wonderful event!
Study Leave starts on Thursday 31st May following our celebration assembly that afternoon. On this day students are invited to come to school in smart office clothes and they may bring a polo shirt for the traditional signing and bring cameras to take that last day photo! Students sitting an exam in the morning may sit this exam in office smart clothes. Following this students are only required to be in school for their exams but are welcome to come to a silent study room if this would be their preference. Revision sessions will be run during this study time.
Year 11 Photograph
This will take place on a sunny afternoon on Wednesday May 2nd. All students must be in full school uniform including a polo shirt and sweatshirt. There is an opportunity for small group photos at a small additional cost which we will know nearer the time.
We would also like to thank you for your continuing support in maximising the potential of our students in terms of achievement and helping them to be the best they can be. This is a very exciting time for our year 11 students but we know it also can be demanding and sometimes overwhelming. If you do have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact your child’s tutor, myself (ext 5752) or Miss Bray (ext (5702)
Best wishes from myself and the year 11 tutor team.
