Hinchingbrooke Students Commended in Red Cross "Make Your Move" Dance Competition

On Saturday June 22nd, Hinchingbrooke School entered 2 dance exam groups into the annual and nationwide event run by the Red Cross called the 'Make Your Move Dance Competition'. Hinchingbrooke were pitted against many other local schools and dance groups in the region.

The premise of the competition was to create a dance routine based on the valuable and varied work the Red Cross does. Our students based one choreography around the plight of 'homelessness' and the other dance piece was about the Red Cross' emergency response in times of crisis.

Not only did the year 10 students from Hinchingbrooke School students raise over £100 for the Red Cross, they also more than held their own in this highly competitive and talented field. Hinchingbrooke had their dance pieces 'highly commended' by the judges, teacher at the school, Michelle Trewin reports.

Mark Rutherford School from Bedfordshire was the overall worthy winner of the regional heat, but the competition is booked in the calendar again for next year's year 10 cohort; so we'll have to see if Hinchingbrooke can go one better.

Dancers were: Olivia Hamblen, Grace Williams, Kelly Marshall, Grace Anderson, Evie Belgrove, Kristin Allan, Georgia Duncan, Jenna Davey, Sam Cook, Skye Knott, Megan Hill, Megan Lilley, Bromwyn Holland, Izzy Hunt, Amy Hunt, Abby Watson, Lucy Gaskin, Sabrina Hunt, Libby Skyrme, Lizzie Keates
