    Dear Parent/Carer

    Re: Unauthorised absence from school

    Attendance has the single most influential impact on a student’s achievement, and as a school we all work together to ensure that our students achieve their maximum academic potential. You will already be aware that legislation has given principals/head teachers (as well as police officers and education welfare officers) the power to serve Penalty Notices on parents who permit their children to truant, arrive persistently late or take their children out of school without the school’s prior authorisation. I do of course appreciate the fact that the vast majority of our parents fully support their children’s regular and punctual attendance at school but I am writing in order to ensure that this discretionary power is properly explained to all parents so that any unnecessary misunderstandings can be avoided.

  • Fundraiser Car Boot Fair - Sunday 19th January

    There will be a Fundraiser Car Boot Sale at Hinchingbrooke House on Sunday 19th January 10am-1pm to begin to raise some money for the 450th projects. Charges are; £8 per car, £12 per van, £1 entry for buyers. (Sellers from 9.00am). Take this opportunity to have a clear out after Christmas and support this exciting project.

  • Boccia Championships at Hinchingbrooke School

    Hinchingbrooke School once again hosted the Lord’s Taverners U19 Cambridgeshire County Boccia Championships. The event was organised by Paul Ashbridge, Sports Development Officer from Huntingdonshire District Council and members of Boccia England and was officiated by Year 11 Hinchingbrooke Boccia qualified Leaders. The competition was well attended with 13 teams from across the County taking part.

  • Year 11 Students Team Up with Cambridge University Undergraduates

    40 Year 11 Hinchingbrooke students applied and have signed up for an inspirational programme organised by “Team Up”    teamup.org.uk.

    “Team Up”  recruits talented university students to join a Rising Leaders’ programme. These Rising Leaders then undertake a challenge that includes inspiring young people in their community. The desired results of the programme are that more pupils reach their academic potential and that the university students increase their leadership skills and enhance their career prospects.

  • NSPCC Number Day/Non-Uniform Day – Tuesday 3rd December 2013

    Number Day, sponsored by Vosene Kids for the third year, is a fun-packed event, where schools take part in a range of exciting maths activities to raise money and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children across the UK.

  • Students Enjoy Thrilling Contest Between Top Mathematics Students

    At the Centre for Mathematical Sciences last week, 30 teams of the best mathematics students from local schools and colleges tackled a series of demanding mathematical challenges for over three hours. It was the regional final of the Senior Team Mathematics Challenge, a competition organised jointly by the Further Mathematics Support Programme and the UK Mathematics Trust and sponsored by Rolls-Royce plc. The aim of the competition is to provide a stimulating and enjoyable challenge for 16-19 year-old mathematics students by focusing on problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.

    The Maths department joins the English, History and Geography departments who already have the Mark in recognition of their continuing commitment to inspirational teaching.
