Week B Commencing 26th November 2018
Message of the week
Welcome to week 12. Just over 3 weeks to the Christmas break!
Wednesday, 21st November – District Cross Country
It was a brilliant performances by our Hinchingbrooke Students in the District Cross Country last week. Names to watch out for in the next round of the regionals are Liam Conway in year 7, Howard Croft in year 9 and Sophie Bambridge, also in year 9.

Thursday, 22nd November, the Careers Team offered parents and students from Years 11 and 13 the opportunity to book a Careers Consultation during the Academic Review Day. Demand was higher than expected so arrangements are being made to see all those disappointed on alternative days and times. One parent contacted Mr O’Shaughnessy after their consultation to say that it’s the first time her Y11 daughter ‘actually smiled about her next step in life. She found it so hard to think about it, let alone get excited. So a big thank you for everything and for being so honest.’
THEME FOR THE WEEK
As part of our drive towards a more responsible attitude towards our environment – we recently removed plastic straws and cups from the Food Court – we are reminding students this week to respect the school environment by putting all waste into bins.
Hinchingbrooke really is a beautiful place to work and learn and the site team and cleaners work hard to keep it looking so lovely. I am always saddened when I hear a student say, ‘The cleaner will pick it up – that’s their job”. If each one of us ensures that we dispose of litter responsibly, not only will it take some of the pressure off our site team and cleaners, it will also encourage students to have a sense of pride in our school.
Golden Antler Winners
Every week, the tutor groups with the highest number of 5s (for great attitudes to learning) are awarded a Golden Antler trophy. Following the award of the trophy, the tutor arranges for a celebratory photograph to be taken. It is then displayed around school.
Last week, the Lower School Golden Antlers winner was …
… 7C1. Well done to the students who earned the highest number of 5s
And winner of the Middle School Golden Antlers was …
… a triple: 9P1, 9W1 and 9C2! Very well done to the students in all three year 9 groups for jointly earning the highest number of 5s. We look forward to lots of photos next week.
