Hinchingbrooke School

Week B – Beginning 16th May 2016

And so work experience begins for Year 10...

...as the exam season really hots up for the GCSE and AS students.  This week there are a multitude of written papers kicking off on Monday with Religious Studies and Global Perspectives.  Students have been working hard at home and in school and deserve to do the very best they can.  We know that with a calm mind and a clear desire they will fulfil their potential – so good luck to them all!

Year 7 will experience the exam season for themselves this week in lessons.  The same mantra applies to them; revise (learn it, test, it and use it) in addition to reading the question twice.  By completing exams in every year group the students start to get used to the conditions and build resilience; a vital life skill.

A huge congratulations to the students in the Sixth Form who have been successful in achieving a senior student position.  This includes those who have been successful in their application to become House Captains (go Pepys!).

Also I have been hearing wonderful things about the Year 9 debating team.  They spent part of their weekend training for the finals of the PiXL competition which is fast approaching, and we received this fantastic email as a result:-

“I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for coming to the masterclasses. We hope that your students found them valuable; they have great potential as public speakers, and it was great to see how much improvement they made even over a two-day period. Your boys were engaged, enthusiastic and very polite; it was a pleasure to have them. My heart melted a bit when Louis shook my hand at the end of the final session. You should be really proud of them - they were a credit to you and your school.”          PiXL Organisers

This just confirms what we already know about our students!

This week’s theme is focused on respecting yourself and what this means on a day to day basis.  It is particularly pertinent at this time of year, mentioning as it does, the need to try your hardest and seize every opportunity.

Have a great week
