Why study Applied Science AAQ Level 3?
This course is ideal for those who would like to develop applied or practical skills, to take alongside and enhance your A levels or other level 3 qualifications. It would be particularly useful for practical based scientific careers or to progress further on to higher education. As well as getting a qualification in Applied Science, you will also experience the opportunity to apply what you learn to real-life contexts. It will provide you with the knowledge, understanding, technical and employability skills you need to find employment in the scientific sector or to give you entry to a wide range of university courses. Practical work will cover a variety of scientific, environmental and forensic science techniques  

What does the course involve?
This course is ideal for those who would like to develop applied or practical skills, to take alongside and enhance your A levels or other level 3 qualifications. Practical work will cover a variety of scientific, environmental and forensic science techniques 

Fundamentals of Science: Key topics fundamental to the understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics including 2 key practicals for each of these components.  

Science in society: an overview of the skills scientists use and the roles they perform.  

Investigative science: an overview of the role of a research scientist in industry. You may also study: analytical techniques in chemistry, environmental studies, forensic biology or medical physics. 

How will I be assessed?
There will be 40% examined content and 60% non-examined assessment (NEA). There are two externally assessed units and three assignments that are a mix of practical coursework and assignments. 

Leading to a career in?
This can lead to a science-related job or a degree course in Biomedical Science, Allied Health & Nursing, Life Sciences or Forensic Science.

5-5 in Combined Science.
