Induction Information 2020 Entry

Note: Clearly, given the Coronavirus situation, the information below will be reviewed as we move forward.

Sixth Form Induction Days – Tuesday 7th July 2020 and Wednesday 8th July 2020

We are delighted to invite you to participate in the two day induction programme on the dates above.

On Tuesday 7th July 2020 we invite you to a ‘getting to know you’ day where you will have the opportunity to meet Sixth Form tutors, the Sixth Form management team, some Senior Students and other members of the new Year 12. The programme includes a brief assembly, followed by an inter-House competition, with races on a giant inflatable obstacle course, tug of war, and other team building activities. Lunch will be provided with a barbecue on the patio, and live music. The Sixth Form dress code does not apply and you should dress appropriately for outdoor activities.

Please arrive by 9.30am at the Gatehouse (at the back of the main car park), where Senior Students will meet you. Unfortunately we do not have capacity for parking but you will be able to be dropped off in the Hinchingbrooke House car park. The day will end by 2.30pm.

The second day of induction, Wednesday 8th July, gives you an opportunity to meet with subject teachers who will introduce the course to you and give you some summer reading and activities which will help you make a great start in September. A full programme for this day will be available for you to collect on the Tuesday so you can plan to attend your relevant subject sessions. If you are not coming on Tuesday, but are coming on Wednesday, please arrive early so you can pick up the timetable and be clear on what and where your lessons will be. We will also publish the lesson timetable for Wednesday 8th July 2020 on this page prior to the event. There will also be workshops on strategies for independent learning. Taster lessons begin at 8:55am, but you should arrive by 8.45am for registration. You should dress in line with the Sixth Form dress code and bring a pen, a pad for notes, and a packed lunch or money for the canteen.

We strongly encourage you to attend these days, as they are an important part of transition into the Sixth Form.

Yours sincerely

Mr Fordham – Director of Sixth Form
