Information Evening for Year 11 - Post 16 Choices

Year 11 ‘Post 16’ Online Application Process (OLAP)/Study Skills Information Evening

There has been a significant change to the application process for Post 16 courses at most Huntingdon area and Cambridgeshire schools and colleges in the past two years. This has been successful and will be repeated again this year, with an increased number of Post 16 course providers taking part. There will be an information evening for parents on Tuesday 6th November at 7.00 p.m.

This means that all Hinchingbrooke year 11 students, making Post 16 applications for courses at participating schools and colleges, will need to do so using the ‘Online Application Process’ (or OLAP). This includes those aiming to apply for the Hinchingbrooke 6th form, as well as applications to external centres.

There has been a large reduction in Connexions services. Consequently OLAP has an increased importance in planning and information for future progression by students. We began the OLAP process in year 10 and will continue to inform and assist our year 11 students in following this process through information assemblies, and via the year 11 PSHE, tutor and support teams.

The evening begins at 7.00 p.m. and will be held in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC - next to lower school). We are fortunate to have Janet Harris, Cambridgeshire County Council Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Manager for Personal Learning, to present on the UCAS Progress (OLAP) website, and to go through aspects of the ‘Online Application Process’.

The Hinchingbrooke Examinations Officer, Anna Grantham, will be clarifying exam procedure. We will also share our thoughts on study skills, particularly as preparation for the forthcoming mocks and exams starting on November 12th.
