Philosophy of Religion

All religions make use of art in their faith through various mediums. This might range from the depiction of Jesus in Christianity to calligraphy in Islam to architecture in Buddhism. Why have they done this? How does it demonstrate an aspect of faith? Who is it demonstrating it to?

As we move into the 21st century, has modern day society impacted upon how religions can express themselves? Do modern mediums help or hinder the expression of faith? How do we see religious ideas expressed through modern mediums such as film and technology? Or are religious ideas still expressed more effectively through the printed word ranging from Bibles to Dan Brown’s ‘Da Vinci Code’?
