AQA RE AS Level

New Testament Studies

For information on Jesus the main religious text is the New Testament in the Christian Bible. Students will focus on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke (the Synoptic Gospels) and use this to assess what we can learn about the figure of Jesus.

Students will debate a variety of topics including whether we can really have any true information about Jesus from the gospels. Students will evaluate how much we can learn from Jesus’ words and Jesus’ actions. Finally students will focus on the most complex message of the Gospels – the death and resurrection of Jesus. What does it actually mean?

The lessons will require students to debate and evaluate different ideas. Developing the skill of justifying opinions using evidence will be a difficult but essential skill to master.

The course is divided into 4 sections. Click on one of the links below to take you to the different topics you will be studying. There will also be revision material available at these links.   Each section of the course will require you to use different skills.
