A2 Philosophy of Mind

A2 Philosophy of Mind is an extremely interesting, yet challenging, area of philosophy, which is seen by many philosophers to be the most dynamic area of philosophy existent today.  This area of philosophy adapts and changes in line with biological science, especially neurology, and searches for the answer to the ubiquitous philosophical questions next to whether God exists, these being 'what is the mind?', 'what are we?' and 'who are we?'

These questions cannot simply be answered by rhetorical discussion or consideration in the context of personal conjecture.  Whilst these aspects do account for a great deal of the total mark at A2 level compared to AS (4.80% out of 15 for 'Interpretation and Evaluation' at A2), it is essential that students interact with theory, as this makes up the rest of the percentage awardings for A2, this being 5.10% out of 15 for 'Knowledge and Understanding' and 5.10% out of 15 for 'Selection and Application'.  Please note that these summaries are referred to henceforth under the following codes:
