Hinchingbrooke is a specialist sports college. This distinctive identity has, in recent years, enhanced the school’s reputation as one of the leading schools in Cambridgeshire and the East. Since electing to specialise in sport we have developed particular expertise in utilising sport and PE to enrich the learning experience for all students across the curriculum and beyond. We have placed significant emphasis on developing opportunities for students to benefit from participating in competitive experiences, regardless of their starting point. We strive for all of our students to be the best that they can be and seek to inspire engagement and enjoyment through offering an extraordinary range of experiences. Central to the Physical Education programme is the opportunity to experience a range of outdoor and adventurous activities. We utilise every corner of our beautiful parkland setting to challenge students to solve problems, work collaboratively and step outside of their comfort zone. These experiences help to nurture confident, independent, analytical students who are keen to approach new challenges with an open mind. |
Building on these firm foundations, we equip all students with the skills and temperament to lead others and, in so doing, prepare our students for actively participating in school and wider society.
We have invested heavily in our PE and sports infrastructure upgrading and extending the school’s facilities for sport and physical activity. Whilst the success of our specialist status initiatives can be measured through enthusiastic engagement in PE and improved take up of physical activity in students’ own time, more significantly, during our tenure as a specialist sports college, students’ achievement has improved significantly across the curriculum.
