Hinchingbrooke School

Week A - Beginning 25th January 2016

Congratulations to the Boccia Team for picking up silver

Wow – fantastic English iGCSE Results last week.  95% of the 201 students entered achieved an A*-C grade.  50.5% achieved an A* or A – which is a phenomenal success.  Well done to the students and the English staff – all of whom worked incredibly hard to achieve these results.  It just goes to show that if you believe and apply yourself the sky really is the limit!

This week is a busy week for the Year 13 students.  They have their Trial (mock) Exams – so let’s hope they are able to take a leaf out of the Year 11s book and really go for it!  The BBC will be in filming on Wednesday (27th) to get some footage of Zoe Perkins (Year 13) in preparation for her appearance on Young Musician of the Year.  The filming will feature our excellent ‘Fusion Band’ in which Zoe plays an integral part. It is also with great please that I congratulate three of our Year 13 students, all of whom have received offers from Oxbridge.  Both Lucy Inskipp and Will Taylor have offers to read History at Oxford, and Rob Fielding has an offer to read Mathematics at Cambridge.  Fantastic achievements – well done!

We are also hosting 15 Chinese students this week and next.  The majority will join Year 9, shadowing their buddy in lessons until 2.30pm each day.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for our students to take on board other cultures whilst getting to know our visitors a little better.

Congratulations are also due to the Hinchingbrooke Boccia team for taking the silver medal in both the County and Regional Boccia finals this season.

The Art Department are out and about this week.  Year 11 are off to a variety of locations including the Tate Modern, The British Museum, National Gallery and The Victoria and Albert Museum.  I hope the capitals galleries and museums prove to be places of inspiration for our students.  On Monday we also have BTEC Dance Workshops taking place and on Friday The Freshwater Theatre Company will be in school to deliver ‘Don Quijote’ to Year 7 and 8 students studying Spanish.  To see what PE have been up to, please click on the following link to see this weeks Sports Report.

The Theme for the Week is all about having the right attitude, as so much can be achieved if this is right.

And on that note…

Here's to a great week.
