Visiting Science Speaker - 22 January

On 22 January 2014 Professor Margaret Robinson, from Cambridge University Institute for Medical Research will be presenting the following talk at Hinchingbrooke School.

“Inside the cell: trafficking, traffic jams and hijackers”

This is a 1 hour interactive lecture with some hands-on activities.  The description from Cambridge University is as follows:

“Each of us has about 100,000,000,000,000 cells in our bodies. Even though they are very small, cells have a lot going on inside them. Using a combination of microscopy, movies, models and living creatures (including humans!), we will look at some of the amazing trafficking that goes on inside all cells. Then we will see how messing up the trafficking machinery can lead to traffic jams, and how bad guys like viruses can hijack the machinery and use it to do their evil deeds!”

This lecture which will held in Hinchingbrooke House library from 7pm-8pm.
