Inter-House Competitions and Results

Pointless, yet quite cool, flashy graphic

________What is Inter-House?_____

Inter-House sports take place every half-term and are (relatively) light-heartedly fought between the four houses

(Cromwell, Montagu, Pepys and Vesey). Each half-term hosts different competitive sports, ranging from

basketball to football, hockey to swimming and much more.  Whilst Montagu seem to never be

at the top of the table, it is important to remember that sport is only a tiny fraction of the raisin-d'etre of

Inter-House (including, amongst other things, art competitions, cookery competitions and quizzes) - raising
money and community spirit amongst ourselves, within our school and within our community
is

equally as important, if not more.

Believe it!

The first term after Christmas saw the Inter-House basketball competitions.  Montagu fielded some very strong teams and saw

some amazing competitiveness, whilst humbly reflecting our motto of 'Wear your identity with pride, wear your pride with humility'.

Special thanks have to go to Alex Benzie who was key in ensuring that we had a team - otherwise we would be physically unable

to run it.  The girls also fielded a team of very strong athletes, and made Montagu extemely proud.

It was great to see other Montagu people turn up to support at lunchtime and it was equally great to see our

House Captains turn up to support them too - Mr. Ainslie even tried to help, but, not being a sporty person,

ended up giving a weak motivational talk.  Many thanks to the teams that humoured him and didn't laugh!

The results of the Inter-House basketball can be found in the grids below.

Montagu struggled to find enough people to have four in the teams for each year group, yet everyone

pulled together to ensure that we filled every race.  Special thanks go to Megan Snellockwho helped

Montagu a lot by ensuring that we have people from year nine and ten.

Lianne Griffiths was equally helpful in ensuring that we had teams fielded in Years 7, 8 and 9, as

was Kristen Chadband.  Montagu came first in many of the competitions, especially with the calibre

of club and county swimmers (and ex-club and county swimmers such as Chris Budd).

There is no need to list every single race as that seems relatively futile; however, you are welcome

to email Mr. Ainslie or the House Captains and ask them to do it if that's what you would like.

The swimming was great fun, especially watching Megan Snellock and Becky Tasker running from one

end of the pool to the other in the 'four-person' relay, and getting absolutely soaked cheering

people on whilst standing at the pool-side.

Believe it!

Track and Field events are forthcoming after half term and are also to take please during Sports Day.

Don't forget to work out what you will be good at and contact the House Captains and/or Mr. Ainslie.

Everyone will be expected to do something, so why not work out what you would like to do and tell us,

otherwise you may be forced to do whatever is left-over and you would dislike it more!

More information about the Inter-House Quiz to follow soon!
