Year 12

Mr M Fordham

The rise of National Socialism 1918 - 1933

This webpage is designed for the use of my Year 12 students studying the rise of National Socialism in Germany, 1918 - 1933. Below you will find handouts from the course, information on future lessons and advice for further reading.

By the end of this week (29th October - 2nd November) you will need to know:

  • the roots of Nazis - where their ideas originated
  • what the Nazis were hoping to achieve
  • the extent to which the Munich Putsch was a disaster for the Nazis
  • what Hitler's book Mein Kampf tells us about Nazi beliefs and ideas

Next week (5th November - 9th November) we will be studying:

  • the extent to which the Nazis were just another extremist group, or whether they were in some way different
  • a new sequence of lessons looking at Germany in the later 1920s, and asking if the period 1924 - 1929 constituted a "golden age" for the Weimar Republic.
