In 2005, three schools in Cambridgeshire were asked to take part in a project by the Historical Association to develop a series of units of transition work with a focus on the Key element of interpretations. At Hinchingbrooke the three schemes of work were designed by Giles Fullard and focused on Boudicca, Living Museums on the Victorians and Evacuations The idea was to help pupils to understand that the way History is presented changes depending on period, context, audience and author. Interpretations is not always well taught at Key Stage three, and Hinchingbrooke was chosen as one of the leading schools in the county. The resources produced are now accessable through the internet. The schemes of work were taught by Giles Fullard at our partner schools, Godmanchester, Buckden and Brampton. We now have ongoing links with these schools and see this exchange of best practice as fundamental to the progression of History at both Key Stage two and Key Stage three.
