The following students completed their History A-Level course this year. Here is what they had to say about their experiences of History at Hinchingbrooke...

Claire

"Having originally chosen History A-Level merely to complement English, it has in fact been thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring and I have decided instead to continue History on at University, hopefully at Durham.

Most surprising to me, I found Unit One and Unit Six, both on Oliver Cromwell, the most interesting. It is good that the course provides the opportunity to extend the knowledge and skills learnt during AS through to A2 where they are built on and developed. The Witchcraft module, Unit Three, also complements these units, coinciding in time, and provides the chance to discover how history fits together.

I liked the fact that the course covered a fairly large time period. I enjoyed the very modern units, in particular Unit Four on Vietnam and Korea, as it was interesting to realise how notably history really does shape our modern world.

The course was certainly hard work. Russia proved to be quite difficult and challenging, but this was more rewarding when I began to feel I was making progress.

All in all, History A-Level was definitely a good choice for me. Despite the amount of reading and essays, it was still a lot of fun!"
