Why choose Religious Studies?

A useful general AS Level that allows students to investigate religious, moral and social issues at a deeper level. A good stepping-stone for studying RS or other Humanities subject at degree level.

There is plenty of opportunity for debate and discussion, developing the skill of constructing arguments after studying evidence, and learning more about the world around us.

Courses offered & minimum entry requirements:

AQA AS 5061 Religious Studies

Entry Requirements 5 A*-C Grades, with preferably a C or above in English. No requirement for

GCSE in Religious Studies.

Brief Outline of the course:

Units studied include Religion and Human Experience, Religion and Ethics, Religion and Science, and the option of studying the Old and/or New Testaments.

A more detailed version of the guidelines is available on request from the RE base in Lower School.

Work load:

No coursework in the AS Level element. If the course goes on into the full A Level coursework will then be required.

The main workload challenge is to keep up to date with reading and maintain detailed notes from the lessons.

Three 1 hour examination papers.
