Why choose Music Technology?

Skills developed are ICT, practical, aural, creative, research, knowledge and understanding.

Careers include: Sound Recording, Leisure Industry, Composer, Music Industry, DJ.

Courses offered & minimum entry requirements:

AS Music Technology: Minimum entry, grade B at GCSE Music or equivalent.  Understanding of music theory to at least grade 3 and ability on an instrument are strongly desirable. 

Ability to play the piano/keyboard desirable. 

A2 Music Technology: grade E at AS Music Technology.

Brief outline of the course:

AS

•   Sequencing and recording

•   Arranging

•   Listening, based on popular music and jazz

A2

•   Sequencing, recording and producing

•   Composing using technology

•   Listening and analysing – demonstrating ability to control and interpret midi data and a study of film music

Work Load:

•   4½ hours lesson time per week

•   2 hours a week in addition on course work

•   additional listening

•   research into development of Music Technology, Classical Music and Popular Music and Jazz

Extra Notes

•   A level Music and A level Music Technology are two separate but complementary courses.
