The Old Huntingdonians Association exists to provide former pupils of Huntingdon Grammar School (1565 - 1970) and Hinchingbrooke School (since 1970) with the opportunity to keep in touch with each other and with the school today.

Founded in 1933, the OHA is a relatively informal association, operating through a mailing list and now through this web page. It has no membership fee - all former pupils of the two schools can ask to be added to the mailing list.

The OHA is run by a small committee, which currently comprises:

The former Head of Hinchingbrooke School, Peter Downes,  (1982-96) is the OHA President.

The OHA publishes a newsletter annually in early January which is distributed by post or by e-mail to those who have access to the internet and register to receive it in this way. To view a copy of the January 2010 newletter, please click here

The OHA normally organises two events each year:

• The Annual Dinner is usually held early in March and there is often a guest speaker - a former pupil or member of staff perhaps. To view photographs of the 2009 Reunion, please click here

• On the first Sunday in July, a Buffet Lunch is held in Hinchingbrooke House. This a less formal event than the Annual Dinner. After lunch, a short AGM is held and then guests can either look round the historical House, guided by present-day students, or take a walk round the school site.

In September 2008 former Heads John Wakelin and Peter Downes arranged and hosted a reunion for members of staff, both teaching and support staff, from the time of their headships (1965 – 82, 1982 – 1996 respectively). Over 140 came and enjoyed a marvellous buffet lunch and a blissfully warm day, Hinchingbrooke House at its most idyllic. It is impossible to name all who came but it was particularly pleasing to see ‘famous names’ from former times, such as Frank Lunn, Frank Arran, Anthony Stanton, Peter Christopher, Christine Gray, Len Rowe, Don Riach, Rod Stratford, Rodney Wilson, Roger Mitchell, Chris Shepperd, Madeline Atkins, Roger Green and, of course, Mike Baker. A recent project of the OHA has been the purchase of a top quality grand piano for the school in memory of Ken Brown, for many years the Music Master at the Grammar School. The OHA now promotes a winter series of concerts built round the Bösendorfer piano and details can be found by clicking here.
