HINCHINGBROOKE EXTRA - CURRICULAR CALENDAR

By 2010 schools are expected to provide five elements of extended schools; childcare, a varied menu of activities, swift and easy access to specialist services, parenting support including family learning and community access to facilities. These can be delivered on the school site, or via existing services or partnerships in the community. We are keen to hear your views, so that our services can reflect community needs.

A partnership of 21 HuntSNet schools have developed projects including a joint School Nurse and Parent Support Advisor. Sheila Wotherspoon is the Extended Schools Out of Hours Co-ordinator working with Hinchingbrooke School and its feeder Primary Schools and is developing a varied menu of opportunities Projects at Hinchingbrooke include an audit of student participation, new cookery courses and music lessons for £1. Research has shown that a varied menu of activities gives children and young people opportunities to excel outside the classroom, transforming attitudes and building self-esteem. Hinchingbrooke staff, the Specialism and partnerships are currently providing a huge range of opportunities which you can find out about through the school website and ParentMail. So please sign up and read ParentMail and encourage your child to explore the many extra-curricular opportunities in school.
