Why “Cromwell”?

All the Houses at Hinchingbrooke are named after people who had some connection with the house or school. Before the Montagues took over Hinchingbrooke House, it was owned by the Cromwells, one of whom was Sir Cromwell, uncle of Oliver Cromwell. Oliver Cromwell fought in the English Civil War on the side of Parliament. After winning their battle against Charles I, Oliver Cromwell took over as Lord Protector of England. Given this heritage, Cromwellians should be used to winning battles, overcoming the odds and having a lot of power so bring on the victories!
