Mr Kennedy gives business knowledge to students in his class
GCSE Business Studies has undergone a transformation at Hinchingbrooke.
We have introduced AQA GCSE Business Studies (full course).
"Setting up a Business" takes place in Year 10 and looks at giving students an understanding of starting a business. It consists of five sections;
- business planning
- marketing
- finance
- people in business
- operations management.
40 % of the course is examined in Year 10 - this is a new method of assessment for Key Stage 4 Business students.
This content is further developed with the examination of " Growing as a Business" in Year 11, giving the students more depth to their understanding. This unit is examined at the end of Year 11 and is worth 35 %of the final GCSE mark.
In Year 11, students will also complete a "controlled assessment". This is worth 25 % of the final GCSE mark.
The structure of the course is displayed in the diagram below |
